Street Food: From the past to the present

The Cyprus Food and Nutrition Museum and the Photography and Cinematography Club of Egkomi cordially invite the public to the event “Street Food: From the Past to the Present”, on March 23rd 2016 at 18:30h in the exhibition hall of the Goethe-Institut Cyprus in Nicosia.

The event aims to highlight different perspectives on street food as a cultural phenomenon, as well as to effectively engage the audience’s senses and intellect by providing interesting historical information, multiple visual stimuli, and of course the authentic tastes of the street.

The event’s programme includes:

  1. Two brief presentations on street food in Cyprus.

  2. First screening of Paschalis Papapetrou’s movie “Loucas Louca: an itinerant food vendor” (production 2015 for the Cyprus Food and Nutrition Museum).

  3. Opening of a photography exhibition entitled “Street Food: Depicting the Cypriot Food Culture”

  4. A small market with vendors selling traditional Cypriot street food specialties.

The photography exhibition will be open on 24.03.2016 and 26.03.2016 from 10:00-13:00h and 15:00-18:00h.

In the framework of the exhibition the Goethe-Institut Cyprus will present the documentary “Taste the Waste” (Director: Valentin Thurn, colour, 92 min., 2010) on March 24th 2016 at 19:30h, in the exhibition hall of the Goethe-Institut.
